I didn’t know everything about everything—and I didn’t need to—to gain financial freedom. Anyone can grow their net worth by applying discipline to a few straightforward money management strategies.
But why, if that were true, aren’t more people financially comfortable?
Most people never achieve financial security for two main reasons:
- Consumerism and social pressure drive people to waste their hard-earned money on short-term pleasures and status symbols. People rack up debt for fleeting indulgences and leave little to no room for saving and investing.
- A lack of financial education keeps the average person in the dark about how to build wealth, and even more, how to build wealth without lots of effort or risk. This information gap traps everyday people in the 40-hour work week grind for most of their lives.
Don’t fall for the jaded idea that the only path to success is to work a draining 9-to-5 for 30 years or more, hoping to one day enjoy life after you’ve grown old. You can reach financial freedom and start living life on your own terms in as little as 10 years, one small step at a time.
